(oops)
And after he saw the one measly picture I put up the other day of an entire afternoon's work, he was like, "That's it?! That's the only picture you posted?? What happened to all the other pictures I took that day? You have to put them up, too!"
So, here you are, the scripture he wanted me to share last year {the one that keeps coming up over and over these days} intermingled with the rest of the pictures from the other day's water run to the slums.
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you invited me in,
I needed clothes and you clothed me,
I was sick and you looked after me,
I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.
“Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
“He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
That's all from Tony, til maybe next year.

Tony was right. We needed to see those pictures. Christian and I were talking about missions the other night. Missions trips with youth groups in particular and how they can be a waste of money when the youth is just going to have fun traveling with their friends and sometimes end up doing more harm then good and the money would have been better used just giving it to the full time missionaries instead. Christian in particular had one of those experiences. However, even though he felt like that particular trip itself was a waste of time what it did do was open his eyes to how the rest of the world lives. We feel like we both are much much more ready and willing to give to missions and the poor now that we have seen and experienced how the poor live. It's one thing to hear about it, it's something else very sobering to see it in person. And then it makes you absolutely sick to your stomach when you come back to America and wal-mart. Anyway, thanks again for posting the pictures.
I am enjoyng your blog posts. Thanks for the homeschool sidebar. I have used it several times.
Tony and Chris,
Tell Tony this is one of my favorite scriptures. Way back in my 'younger' years we heard Keith Green - a piano player, sing this scripture - You guys are certainly the sheep of the world. We pray for you - may you be refreshed daily and not have to wait until heaven to hear the words - enter into my rest you good and faithful servant!
Love you and pray for you!
And I admit --- I did not read the homeschooling blog - skipped right over that one! We believe in up front honesty, right Chris? :)
