My Cheap-o Wal-Mart Camera

When I am in South America it's as if I have a sign taped to my forehead which says, "Please Rob Me."

I've been robbed so many times there, once even at knife point.

So the thought of having to buy a good (=expensive) camera to take to Argentina, as opposed to my cheap-o Wal-Mart one, just wasn't what I really wanted to do. It surely would get stolen from us sooner or later. A waste of money and an added and unnecessary stressor to the already challenging missionary life.

So... I was inspired to look again at my Kodak EasyShareC160 and actually learn how to use it. I was surprised that it actually had a lot of little settings on it that make for measurably better shots.

So, here are a few unedited pics taken in Granpa's yard yesterday. Purely amateur, but I am pleased with the results! I may still purchase a slightly better camera, but I am so happy I will not need a $1000 Nikon!

Really pretty shots! I'd love a $1000 DSLR, but that's SO not in the budget. My camera cost about $250, and I'm very happy with the quality of the photos it takes. Like you said, taking the time to learn the ins and outs of your camera is a huge step in getting the most out of it! Do you have a Flickr account?

They're beautiful, Chris! I never thought of actually trying to find out how to use my camera. What a concept! I think I'm doing well because I can take a picture on auto-focus, OR turn the dial to the little flower emblem to take a close-up! Maybe I'll read the manual someday...but I doubt it. ;)

I cannot believe you were robbed at knife point!!! Yikes.

Thanks for the comments! Sorry I'm so bad at responding to them - but I do LOVE reading them, really, so thank you!

Katie, thanks :) No, no Flickr for me - I get stressed out just trying to upload my pics to the computer with 3 kids handing out underfoot talking, whining, or asking me for something! Besides, I'm on the computer too much as it is.

Denise, thanks and haha - good luck with finding the time to do that! And yes, some guy appeared out of nowhere and stuck a steak knife to my side on the beach in Copacabana demanding all my money. I was dumb though, jogging 9 at night in Brazil. God must have a purpose because I should be dead a million times over:)
